Manhattan Maritime Quizzes have been developed to highlight the need for pre-study and self- improvement of candidates applying to do their Master of Yachts Limited and Yachtmaster Offshore Courses.

These are NOT beginner courses and are truly difficult to pass without prior learning.
They are intense courses that warrant time in the books and adequate research.

These quizzes are randomized from a bank of general maritime questions that will test your day skipper and coastal skipper knowledge. If you pass these quizzes, you may well be ready to enter Yachtmaster mode.

Yachtmaster mode consists of an Master of Yachts (limited) and Yachtmaster
Offshore theory questions. Use the results received to study and improve your
depth of knowledge. You WILL be examined on this on your course! Pass this quiz
and you have a better chance of passing your course.

Each Quiz consists of 20 questions. You have 8 minutes per 20 questions. That’s 25 sec per question. The pressure is on!

The internet is a wealth of knowledge. A quick google will point you in the right direction! We show you where to look. It’s up to you to do the learning. Our resources page has a list of free and available links to reputable websites and pdf’s to continue your learning.
The quizzes only point you in the direction of learning more. The yacht master courses encompass a theory module and a practical module. The quizzes can only do so much to test your depth of knowledge. The practical is up to you and your experience. You cannot learn to drive a boat on this course, you should already have the know how.
Although not a requirement yet, this Certificate of Completion indicates to the school that you are committed to progressing in your maritime career and are taking this seriously.
Of course you can! Many have said that they listen to podcasts and educational books while polishing stainless steel. Why not educate yourself and improve your knowledge in your down time. Especially if you are looking at doing your Master of Yachts (Limited) course in the near future.

The yacht master course tests Colregs, Meteorology, Tides and Currents, Navigation and Business and Maritime Law. A thorough understanding of each module is highly beneficial. These quizzes are drawn from those subjects.
